((This is for Dhaos... And I'm going to use my skills as a mysterious being for now. EDIT: Right now, place-setting! ...And thanks for the redundancy radar.))
It was a rather peaceful day on the Capital City of Dherris-Kharlan's Upper Continent. Most of the songbirds were chirping, save a few that had a lot of eating of breadcrumbs to do.
The people outside were bustling, and it was about afternoon; the time when the King was to be out in his family's gated garden; which was semi-public for the most part; save that one time of day.
Ah; such a serene day, if only it were to be interrupted by a bright flash and a semi-loud thud. Apparently - the King wasn't alone in that garden now, but where had the disturbance come from, and more importantly, why had it come there now?
~~~ Start:
There's been a mysterious disturbance in the garden, Dhaos - you're the one to notice right away, since it was semi-close.
You can:
I. Investigate on your own. II. Call the guards to investigate for you. III. Stay put and see what's going on in the first place.
(This will be fun~! ^o^) I. Investigate on your own.
Dhaos frowned, turning to face the direction of the thud. That was most definitely not a sound that belonged in the garden. He ducked under a fern hanging over the bench he'd been sitting on and stood up.
There was always the possibility that it was an assassin or something similarly malicious, and Dhaos was hardly alone in the garden... He could hear Kent and Frabella talking near the entrance. They were within calling distance... and would remain so if he needed them. He would check for himself first.
Keeping a fist balled under his cloak just in case, the angel crept towards the source of the noise...
((EDIT: Ah, whoops - gender-bent Frabella.))
The disturbance was a person. A smallish blond with a dazed look on his face, and rubbing his head slightly. He was looking about the area warily; but that was all so far. He looked battered, bloody - almost wild, but his green eyes contradicted that. A lost and scared boy...one with a sword in a scabbord. "Wh-what's going on?" He mumbled softly, noting the footsteps approaching; and the approacher. "..." He reached for the hilt - wincing visibly a bit... But the male also looked concerned over how...this place looked.
And he noticed the guards...and he seemed to tense up a bit more. "St-stay back... I do know HOW to fight if need be..." But the kid wasn't THAT suicidal - was he? No, he had been raised better. And since he knew the world fully, he knew that he wasn't at home.
~~~ You've chosen to Investigate on your own, leading to find a mysterious injured blond boy. Something also seems ethereal about him.
You can:
I. Help him, he barely seems like he's to stand on his own for much longer. II. Call Kent. He's quick tempered, but the one that goes on the most foreign missions. III. Call Frabella. She's almost scary-looking - but has a nice judge of character and a big heart. And the fact that she can use Cure can help.

I. Help him, he barely seems like he's to stand on his own for much longer.
A blond eyebrow disappeared into Dhaos' headband before he cleared his expression again. Somehow a boy had found his way in here... If the thud earlier was any indication, from the roof. But Dhaos had heard his earlier comment to himself. Apparently the boy had no idea what was going on...
...That look in his eyes... Did he find his surroundings unfamiliar, or.... too familiar...? There was something strange about him, something ethereal Dhaos could not recall sensing in anyone else before. For all the boy's frightened demeanor, it could still be a trap.
"...Are you lost?" he asked flatly. The boy didn't seem to recognize Dhaos, so he certainly wasn't from the capital... "You would hardly get far if you chose to fight me here."
He did seem rather harmless... Taking a chance, Dhaos extended his hand to the youth. Apparently he'd been caught in a good mood, but the others were sure to hear and approach on their own sooner or later...

"I-I...huh?" Hardly an intelligent answer. But his hand went away from the sword's hilt to drop, then reach for Dhaos' cautiously. "I'm lost, yeah..." He mumbled to himself. Apparently, he was safe from scruntiny for now, and there wasn't too much religious zeal about the guards; now that he thought about it. But another thing that the other said had hit a nerve. However, he didn't say much of it. Sure, three-on-one was bad odds when injured. It was like he knew that place, and yet didn't. He knew the sinking feeling.
"In fact, I don't think that this is my home. May I ask of the area's name?" He wasn't dense at all - nor did he seem openly a threat so far. Or even threatening now that he had been treated with kindness.
It wasn't an act, and he winced a bit as if he had forgotten something. "M-my name's Emil Castagnier, sir." The two nearest guards were nearing, but kept their distance, as if awaiting orders from the man.
~~~ You've helped out this strange boy, Emil...whom; apparently has no clue whom he's talking to. He's also not too hostile.
You can:
I. Hear him out as of right away. IF he's an enemy...he won't be able to stand too much pain from how it seems. II. Order Frabella. ((Up to you.)) III. Order Kent. ((Up to you.)) IV: Heal him yourself and then try to ask questions in return for the favor.
((Also, about the first post before I forget again: Dreamer obtained the title of Lady Redundant Woman! It is the title for the one whose typos cause amusingly redundant statements via her typos. EDIT: In case anyone wants to see what Fimbulvetr looks like/where I ganked it from.EDIT 2: Welp, I learned what Dhaos' country is actually called. Crap. I go to all the trouble of picking out a Norse name to fit with the rest of the naming scheme and it turns out to be GREEK.)) II. Order Frabella.... He really had no idea who he was talking to. It would actually be mildly amusing, were there not the issue of his injuries to deal with. ...No harm in answering the question, he supposed... "...Welgaia, capital of Elusion, on Derris-Kharlan's northern continent." The country used to be called Fimbulvetr, after the ancient angelic word for 'Great Winter,' and so named for the three-year long winters the country found itself having every few decades. There was a spell of the same name that, it was rumored, only the royal family could use for some reason... Even Dhaos sometimes had difficulty with it, though using the term 'Rexcaliber' instead of 'Fimbulvetr' seemed to help some. The power suffered, however. "Emil Castagnier. I would like to know how you found your way in here." Dhaos helped the youth to his feet, but he would not stay there long without more help, and Dhaos' white magic was restricted to First Aid at the moment. And, though it wasn't necessary in this case, he could not use it on himself. Rather frustrating restrictions. "Frabella, help me." he called back to the blond knight, who nodded and was at her liege's side in seconds. The redheaded knight pursed his lips but said nothing. "Ah... Your Majesty..." she said before casting. "What did he say...?" 'What did he say'...?
...Wait a moment..."You speak Aselian." he said to the boy, Emil. Most people on Derris-Kharlan obviously spoke angelic, sometimes with Aselian as a second language. A second language. The fact that he had used it first was rather unusual. He really did not appear threatening at all, but it was strange. "And if you do not recognize me, then..." He couldn't be...?
((EDIT: TYPOS! ><; One More thing: NW has earned the Title of Henpecked Roleplayer. Siblings hogging the computer? Check. Bedtime? Yes. I barely have time to have fun!))
It wasn't his choice to decide... He could vaguely understand the conversation between this...Frabella...and a King? Wait a second. A sweatdrop rolled down his face. Aselian? It just hit him, he had two homes. The home he knew as his own...and the home the other had... "Welgaia?"
So this is the REAL Dherris-Kharlan? A voice in the boy's head stated as the green eyes went slightly hazy. They speak Angelic... It's an offshoot of butchered Summontone.
"Ah..." Shaking his head at the information... The male's eyes cleared out the back to green as he was given the proper treatment. Summontone was easy enough to DEAL with...save with Volt.
He speaks it like a kid buzzing and babbling would.
"I apologize." His was a bit - off-accented...like it was an awkward, in that way that a kid would sound almost as if they were a bit sick. As any other time where a healthy kid would when they were almost a bit close to a time of prayer or something... He must've figured out that it wasn't too bad. But it sounded really ancient... As if the male was more than one person to begin with; but didn't know fully of the other.
He looks so much like that odd old man. I would say more...but you're going to have to explain yourself out of this one.
"U-um, thank you; Frabella..."
~~~ You've helped Emil out, and there seems more than what is visible to this one boy than just what he says. He can understand some things that is of the Angelic language, but speaks a slightly different part of it. It's vaguely better for others to understand, but it's ODD nonetheless. Irregardless, he seems like no threat if he's watched...
You can:
I. Ask Kent for the opinion he might hold. II. Talk to him more; after all...he is just a boy, and he seems a bit rattled... III. Let Frabella talk to him; he seems indebted. IV. Call a Linguist. Heck; they may know a lot more about why he's a bit awkward at the whole world's Language for better or worse; or why that boy knows a variant of it at all.

((Ratatosk. LOL. EDITED for hastiness-induced lame. Still lame, but better.) III. Let Frabella talk to him; he seems indebted.
Dhaos frowned. The boy's eyes had glazed over for a second. Had Frabella noticed? He looked at her, but apparently not. Bizarre...
Even more bizarre, however, Emil's next statements were in Angelic-- although he had an accent, and seemed to be using a rather archaic version... And he obviously wasn't used to speaking it. But knew it rather well. Was he really...
"It's no problem." Frabella said kindly, probably deciding it would be better to try and talk to him herself than let the colder Dhaos or the rougher Kent do it. Dhaos would allow it, as she could probably do a better job. "Ah... Your name is Emil Castagnier? Well, yes, you are in Welgaia... Elusion's capital city. If you're lost, we could find a way to get you back home."
Well, she'd mostly repeated things they'd already gone over, but that was hardly a surprise when she didn't know Aselian. The remaining knight chose this moment to close the distance between himself and his liege, whispering in his ear.
"Your Majesty--"
"You'll get your chance, Kent." Dhaos said. "It would probably be wiser to hear him out first."
The Captain of the Royal Guard only snorted in response.

((Kent has earned the title of Impatient One. I don't care for your reasons - don't trust those seedy urchins! They'll just waste your time!))
Emil had to pause momentarily. "Frabella - your friend...he seems a little testy. If I'm wrong, then I'm sorry..." He wasn't betting on the testy redhead's way of almost breathing down his own neck. He was trying to not step on toes as he was possibly seen as an invader. Still...it wasn't up to him to be the one to decide his fate. Looking to the two males, it was a bit hard to believe it was a good thing he was there on the King's good will alone. It was only an inkling...but it was a big one to guess about. "I mean - I'm honored to be a guest here... Or at least to be treated with respect so far. I would want to repay that kindness; somehow, eventually." He'd cook for them if they'd allow it...or so he'd hope. It was a stretch, but the goal was to repay any such kindness, or at least that's what Marta would want; right? He could only hope.
"Um...a question - where's the toilet?" And cue the anime fall...
~~~ Emil has shown no ill will, but that can change. Furthermore...this is a dilemma...he needs to use the lavatory. Frabella can't go into the men's room!
You can:
I. Tell him where to go. He's certainly not an assassin. II. In order to watch him, have Kent go with. III. Tell him, then have Kent to follow after him and wait outside... If there's anything wrong about time taken; you can have him go inside.
(Aw, no option not to tell him. LOLOLOL. The second half is just after Emil leaves. Also, generic knight names are generic.) III. Tell him, then have Kent to follow after him and wait outside... If there's anything wrong about time taken; you can have him go inside.
"If you're implying that we took you here, you'd be mistaken." Kent said. "And as for being a guest, you have a lot of explaining to do before we get that far. We can talk about 'repaying kindness' later."
Anime sweat drop, more like. Dhaos allowed himself a small smirk.
"Just around the right corner, down that hall." Frabella offered. "Try not to take that long."
Kent looked more exasperated than ever.
~~~
"...Your Majesty, really. Let me follow him."
"You... probably should, actually." Frabella frowned. "It would be rather unfortunate if he ran into someone else on his way there."
It would actually be mildly amusing if, say, General Gawain found him-- he wasn't in the palace at the moment-- but as long as he showed no open signs of hostility Dhaos was going to try being civil.
"Do that, then. Try to make sure he doesn't hear or see you, unless someone else finds him." If he did have malicious intentions, as Kent no doubt believed, it would be easier to catch him at it that way. "We'll be waiting for you in the throne room."
Kent nodded, satisfied with finally getting his way, and left the garden after Emil. Dhaos watched him go, then turned to a different entrance on the right. His short break was clearly over.

"Th-thank you!" And off Emil went, following the directions to the letter. After his business - said and done - he washed in the basin of the same room; as he had a stern habit of doing. After all; he IS a chef by some means of it at one of his homes... And then there was Ratatosk pacing in his mind. Y-you're nervous?
Not that! The spirit would grumble, out pointing in the direction of the door. You have a stalker~...
Oh ha ha ha...? Walking outside to see Kent - he knew that it was more like Ratatosk to say things like this. Granted, the redhead was halfway behind a corner to avoid line of direct sight, but he was impatient in any case - but Emil swallowed shallowly. "Ah! Sir...Kent; right? You seem like the kind to take good care of your blade. I think; we might have that in common..." Compliments could go far... He smiled; walking over to the man. "It shows a sign of a good swordsman, I think." How he had managed not to trip over his own toungue in this language was a FINE mystery... It was silly - regardless; or so the spirit thought he sounded.
Okay; Emil... Either you say this to the letter or you let ME do it. Here's what you should say... And out came a religious proverb, that confused the heck of Emil. Now state you're not here for evil. Might buy it this time.
... I don't get the proverb; but okay. "I saw something in the stalls, and it seemingly was etched in the basin. 'For all of the fallen feathers near the Grand Tree, if we are barbaric to guests in our own home; than we have fallen lowly past our time above'. Ah...once more; I mean no harm." I said the proverb - and I'm kinda lost about it. What was it?
Ratatosk laughed a little. 'Arc of the Promise verse three regarding Guests and Violence without knowing their true intent to the World Tree'. If he doesn't know it, I doubt he's not a very refined swordsman here... Though, it's been roughly 5 thousand years since I was last here to enforce such.
A few blinks came from Emil, though he let himself be led to where ever that Kent was headed. And he WAS cussing at Ratatosk inwardly all the while.
~~~ Emil's caught sight of Kent. ...He's quoted a book that only Royals; High-ranked Knights or Royal Guardsmen would know...and is now following redheaded hothead like a lost puppy.
You can:
I. Ask him now, of whom the hell he REALLY is. II. Have Dhaos grill him for information. You did promise to meet up in the throne room; after all... III. Lead him to a hallway that makes a quick shortcut to the Sparring Area and make a 'friendly' wager to get the information out of him with a wooden weapon on both sides.
(You know what sucks? When what I want a character to do and what he would probably do given the circumstances are two different things, which I seem to be running into a lot in this topic. LOL. Makes choosing pretty difficult.) I. Ask him now, of whom the hell he REALLY is.
Kent gave him a flat stare, clearly unimpressed with the obvious attempt at flattery. Well, so much for remaining unseen, at any rate. The kid hadn't done anything suspicious, but he seemed to be remarkably aware of his surroundings.
The knight's eyes widened at the sound of the proverb. That was...
"Where did you hear that...?" Well, he'd just said he'd read it, but Kent wasn't going to believe that. That was an incredibly obscure reference, and while it was certainly possible that he'd merely heard it somewhere, Kent's suspicions only increased. He was certainly not a royal, so unless he had family among the higher-ranked knights-- unlikely, as Kent was the captain of the Royal Guard and made it his business to learn everything he could about his men-- Emil was quoting something he should definitely not know.
"You fall out of the sky-- or from the roof, for all we know-- apparently speak Aselian as your first language, speak Angelic with a bizarre accent, excuse yourself from the king's presence at the first opportunity and quote sources available to very few, and you insist that you mean no harm."
He snorted. "Who the hell are you? You had better give me a very good answer before we get to the throne room!"
"..." I-I'm not answering anymore - YOU set me up! Sighing and closing his eyes, he pushed the one that told him behind the wheel of controls.
When his eyes opened up once again... They were red, with odd pupils...which pretty much looked like butterflies. "It's because one can never know which one of the visitors can be more than what they appear - correct?" The dialect was still old - but it had lost its accent and the pitch deeper and more assured. "If I remember correctly...the Kings and Royals are of a link to summons, as well... As their amazing link to the Great Tree does make itself apparent. Your hair looks like its been touched by a pure flame's embers; as is your matching temper towards those that may be intruders. Remarkable that you've still your station; all things considered." A laugh escaped his lips; which sounded like he was looking down on Kent now. "Verse five of the same Arc on Guests. 'And so the stranger to the innkeeper appeared to warn the King of an attack on his throne - and lo - the King's demeanor towards him to believe the stranger...thus saving his own life'. That's one reason your post is to also learn to read body language, isn't it? To figure out the real intent of strangers and to make sure that you can discern their REAL race. I DON'T even know how I came to here; but you've got some nerve, thinking me an assassin when all I am is a little lost to the locale over 5,000 YEARS of being trapped on a hellhole. You get me NOW?" Oh shit - they were outside of the throne room's door!
~~~ Oh no, Emil might actually be the human guise of a summon spirit... An OLD one...and what's worse, is that Dhaos might've heard him scolding you something fierce! What to do NOW?!
You can:
I. Quickly usher him in and apologize for being an utter idiot for forgetting the reason why he might be there. II. Maybe you can reason with him? He's shorter than you. And he might've slipped in the library beforehand. You can't exlplain off those eyes to anyone... They were green up until the point you DEMANDED an explanation. III. Apologize NOW and let Dhaos reason with him... This so can't get any more worse. At least Frabella can't make him any more inflamed since she helped him out; right?

I. Quickly usher him in and apologize for being an utter idiot for forgetting the reason why he might be there.
Kent visibly recoiled at the sight of those fierce red eyes. They were most certainly green just a moment ago.
But he had little time to think about that as the change came completely over the boy: the accent was gone, like he'd been speaking it all his life, and his normally meek tone was replaced by a powerful, confident arrogance that somehow made him sound far beyond the knight's status.
Who... the hell was this kid?
Though the bit about the royal family being part spirit was interesting: it was a rumor that few people, including the king himself, had little trouble believing, considering the royal family's affinity for magic, but it had always been a mystery as to which spirit they might be descended from...
Now is not the time to be thinking about that...
"You can hardly blame me for being suspicious of your circumstances." He would have to tread carefully, as no doubt Dhaos could hear him by now... "There are plenty of people who would love nothing more than to see our ruler dead."
But... 5000 years of...?
"...You can explain yourself to him." Kent finished lamely, pretty much at a loss. He pushed the double doors open, revealing a rather exasperated-looking Dhaos.
"Apologize." was the first thing he said.
Kent grunted, more than displeased with this turn of events. "...My apologies."

((EDIT: More typos assault people when they're hyper. Or in a rush. Or both.))
It's some of the best things that he could do to make the other squirm for being an idiot. But now - in a castle? Not the time nor the place; and he had yet to have been attacked. He couldn't retaliate as he had been treated with respect, mostly.
"Don't worry about it... You followed what you thought was right, even though it was a little rash. Rather amusing - I think." Reaching up to pat Kent on the head he chuckled. Nodding with mild respect to the woman, Frabella from before - he let a small smile be aimed at her. After that was said and done, he turned to adress Dhaos... Or at least gave pause...before he grinned. He REALLY does look like Sekundies...
"So - for being such a far descendant of Sekundies... You are his spitting image. I was wondering when his house would come to rule here." A grin that wasn't too imposing to most was actually was his trying to be calm and sociable. Of which; Emil could do far better... "How is the world tree here?" He idly commented to the royal other - before facepalming. "Oh...right, manners. I'm Ratatosk. And don't mind Emil - he can't help but be my face when I get weary." Well, that explained it partway. "He's very much real - however hard it might be to disprove..." Mocking himself? Yeah...most certainly a summon.
~~~ Ratatosk... So that's the kid's true face... And he apparently likes the King a bit more for aiding him; but yeah - he so was a bit more awkward in some ways past the King himself.
You can:
I. See if his offer of repaying that prior kindness still stands. II. Ask him why he thinks he's here. It might help out with the problems of the area just a bit more. III. Frabella could give him a tour of some places... Like the mess hall or something later; then report back to Dhaos - should he decide to help with something that may be bothering the locals. IV. Dhaos could give him a tour of the area, and ask for some advice in the meanwhile... Overall, this is quite a morale booster if he is a real spirit.
